Fall 2016 Couture // ZUHAIR MURAD

Zuhair Murad

Inspiration: bohemian chic, 70's, nature

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
The Lebanese designer's most recent Couture collection was opened with Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". The song choice and details such as tassels or suede gave a hippie vibe, (or even boho with the lightness of the fabrics), were a distinct connection with the 70's. The jumpsuits from looks 17 and 31 are a modern play on the garment.

Caught in the landslide, no escape from reality...
The looks were exquisite and carefully crafted; the fabrics included velvet, tulle and chiffon and frequently played with transparency. The shoes worn by the models were either strappy heels or suede thigh high boots and colouristically matched with the garment to create a well coordinated look. All the girls had beautiful hair - delicate locks, and some were wearing hats. With the 70s being a common throwback on the runways, some of the looks couldn't help but resemble those of other designers from previous years.

Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see...
In terms of accessories (apart from the hats) black choker necklaces, thick belts with large circular buckles, and small (mainly tasseled) bags could be spotted.
